GILLES, our friend

”Une histoire d’amitie’ ”

I met with Gilles for the first time in 2007 when I moved to the US. We shared at least 2 passions : sailing and good wines. We sailed a lot together: to Hawaii, Mexico, in the sea of Cortes and, of course the Santa Monica Bay which held no secrets for us;  this is where he is resting now.

Gilles was our Captain ”bonne humeur” on board. He was the best cook we ever had on a boat. He was the friend whom everybody dreams to have, the brother all boys want to have. Supportive in bad times, always ready to help, and on deck for the watch making sure the whole crew was doing fine and was well fed.

i miss you my Captain

    Hello All,
I think it is tremendous what you are doing to gain awareness for a horrible disease, ALS, that killed my brother. I work at the largest non-profit biotech called ALS Therapy Development Inst in Boston. My friend is coordinating a regatta for an amazing sailing captain who is living with ALS. She would love some input on raising funds and hear your experiences…could you tell me if and whom she may contact?
Thank you in advance for your input….here’s to blue skies and smooth sailing.

My exceptional father lost his life to this disease. It is with tears in my eyes that I thank you for what you are doing. Your friend sounds like he was a wonderful man. My husband, Stan Perkins, and daughter, Kerry Hallyburton are sailing on Mirage. Hope to meet you in Hawaii!
