The BOAT ”THIRSTY”

THIRSTY 2016 version

During the year 2015, we decided to modify Thirsty to make it easier to sail and more confortable offshore. We changed the bow, modified the inside with some seats and bigger beds.

Now we can say that Thirsty is a real OFFSHORE Ocean Racing Boat.

THIRSTY 2014 version

After winning their Class in the Pacific Cup 2012 on NAOS30, Charly and Fred wanted an even faster boat. THIRSTY is a BENETEAU FIRST30-R  built in France in 2013 as a lighter and faster version of NAOS30. She was built for offshore passage.

She is 30′ long, 10.7′ wide and weighs 8800 pounds. THIRSTY carries on-board 1 mainsail, 2 jibs (one with reef), 3 spinnakers, 2 storm sails and one staysail for downwind.

THIRSTY communicates via satellite to receive weather data and emails during her crossing to Hawaii.

After their 2nd place in double handed division in 2014, Fred and Charly have decided to make some major changes on the boat to improve the driving of the boat.

Watching the big storm this morning and watching the YellowBrick trail of boats coming this way. Best wishes and all prayers for safe arrival. Thanks for sailing for ALS.
