Charly and Fred have the same passion for sailing, racing and optimizing a boat. Fred is a naval architect and aerospace engineer. Charly is a yacht broker and loves to share his love of sailing with customers and friends alike.
Charly and Fred (in 2014 their racing nickname will be Erwan Le Devane’k and Rahan Kourou-Bleac’h) already raced twice to Hawaii together : The TransPacific Ocean Race in 2011, on a Beneteau First40 with 5 other friends (Gilles, Jacques, Thomas, Scott and Keith) and finished 2nd in their class; then they sailed in the Pacific Cup Ocean Race in 2012, double-handed on their Beneteau First30 and won 1st place in their Class.
Why are they doing it again? Because they have a great friendship and love sharing these truly unique moments of speed and thrill when a squall comes, as well as the emotion brought on by a magnificent sunset out on the ocean.
This year, there is a much stronger motivation for the two friends : crossing the finish line flying the magic ALS Association spinnaker in Gilles’s memory.
